Population [Draft]
Each human once born should have a right to at least a basic standard of living. The number of humans born therefore determines the total demand on our various systems.
It therefore seems reasonable that the amount of global human population should be reviewed to ensure that impacts to environments and systems are understood, and that we have an idea of a preferred range (or conditions based optimum) for the global human population level.
There is a substantial history on this effort (Malthus, Vogt, Erlich, Mann), but there seems to be little open effort in discussing optimum levels. While such a target may never be enforceable (and likely should not ever be enforceable), having a rationale and understanding of impacts can help inform decisions, down to the local and individual level.
Optimal Global Population [Draft]
Some thoughts on optimal global population levels are provided on the following page. While broad and general, the intent is to provide ranges of global population for consideration which will provide some boundary to the question and considerations.
