The Social Contract:

The general understanding that governs the relationship between the individual and society.

Origins

Each human is (an) individual, but humanity cannot survive without individuals joining together.  Therefore, by necessity there must be a relationship between the individual and the group (or society).  That relationship between individual an society (which could be called the social contract), and how it is understood, has many underpinnings which are attempted to be described herein.

Status Quo

The current social contract that exists within most of the western world under which we provide service in exchange for necessary life items.  This system has generally provided peace and prosperity since World War II, but is not without issues.

Proposed Framework

There are likely some general tenets that would need to be agreed to be incorporated into any revision to the social contract.  These proposed tenets include relatively obvious principles such as recognizing existing strengths to fairness and provisions of basics, and is described more fully herein.
